A man from Benue State has captured hearts and inspired many after graduating in his late 60s from the University of Calabar, proving that determination and passion for education can triumph over age.
Yesterday, in his late 60s, he proudly graduated proving that age is never a barrier to achievement.
His journey is powerful, his determination is inspiring, his story reminds us that it is never too late to pursue knowledge, fulfill a dream, or rewrite your path.
One of the students from the University says
I HAVE WITNESSED THE TRUE DEFINITION OF DETERMINATION IN SIR ULE AONDOASEER.
A proud son of Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State, Sir Ule, a man in his late 60s gained admission into the University of Calabar in 2022. Because of his age, many people were curious and often asked why he chose to return to school at such a stage in life. His answer was always simple and powerful: none of his children continued their education after secondary school, and he was determined to earn a university degree to represent his family.
On campus, many students mocked him and called him names. Some laughed, unable to understand the courage behind his decision. Yet he remained focused.
During his 300-level second semester, he lost his beloved wife. It was a painful period, and many advised him to defer the semester, but he refused. Instead, he moved into the hostel to continue his studies. Even there, he faced disrespect and ridicule from some students who believed a man of his age did not belong in a student hostel. Still, giving up was never part of his dictionary.
Despite the challenges, the grief, and the discouragement, he pressed on with unwavering determination.
Today, his dream has become reality he has successfully earned his degree.
Congratulations, Sir. Your journey is a powerful lesson in resilience, courage, and perseverance. I wish you many more years to enjoy the fruits of your hard labour.
Congrat Sir Ule Aondoaseer
