The project, which covers one of the busiest commercial and residential corridors in the state capital, is expected to ease traffic congestion, improve road safety, and boost economic activities within the metropolis. The Savannah Roundabout–Underpass axis serves as a major link connecting key government institutions, businesses, schools, and residential areas.
Speaking during the flag-off ceremony, Governor Alia reiterated his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development as a cornerstone for economic growth and urban renewal in Benue State. He emphasized that quality road infrastructure would not only enhance mobility but also attract investors and create job opportunities for residents.
Residents and business owners around the High Level area have long called for the rehabilitation of the road due to its deteriorating condition, especially during the rainy season when flooding and potholes often disrupt movement. Many have welcomed the governor’s intervention, describing it as timely and impactful.
The reconstruction project is expected to include proper drainage systems, road expansion where necessary, and durable asphalt surfacing to ensure longevity and sustainability.
