Benue State University, Makurdi (BSU) has officially been renamed Father Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi, in honour of the institution's visionary founder and former Governor of Benue State.

His Excellency Rv Hyacinth Iormem Alia administration has a very special way of recognising the impact of Benue State heroes. As the first  Reverend Father to become a nigerian Governor, the name of Father Adasu still stand firm for his impact in the state  educational development. Father Moses Orshio Adasu was the one who brought Benue state University in existence during his regime. The university was established in 1992.
