At Big 12 Media Days, Colorado head coach Deion Sanders showcased his usual charisma but declined to share details about his recent health issues, stating he wanted the focus to remain on his team. He thanked Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark and other coaches for their support but only vaguely referenced his illness, which caused him to miss June camps and led to a 14-pound weight loss.

On football matters, Sanders discussed Colorado's quarterback battle, bringing both Kaidon Salter, a top transfer from Liberty, and Julian "JuJu" Lewis, a highly-rated freshman. He hasn’t decided who will start and left open the possibility of playing both.

Sanders also addressed broader issues in college football, including the transfer portal and NIL spending, joking about Texas Tech’s heavy investments in top players. He praised Tech coach Joey McGuire but highlighted concerns over the financial imbalance in college sports. Sanders expressed support for a salary cap system, similar to the NFL, to create a more level playing field amid escalating spending and revenue-sharing changes following the House v. NCAA settlement.
