Georgia and Ohio State Emerge as Leading Contenders for Nation’s Top Tight End

 

The University of Georgia is emerging as a strong contender for the nation’s top-ranked tight end in the 2027 recruiting class, Brock Williams. According to On3, Williams recently revealed his top three choices: Georgia, Ohio State (the current national champions), and Georgia's longtime SEC rival, Florida.

Georgia has already made significant strides in the 2027 class and is currently trending in a favorable direction for Williams. The Bulldogs have built a strong track record with tight ends, especially in the 2026 class, where they already secured two four-star commitments and are projected to land five-star prospect Kaiden Prothro soon. If that happens, it will allow head coach Kirby Smart and his staff to fully focus on 2027 tight end prospects like Williams.

Williams also stated that he plans to make his college decision this fall — an early timeline for a player of his caliber. If Georgia can secure his commitment that early, it would greatly boost their 2027 recruiting class, which already includes two four-star recruits. Adding Williams would not only solidify Georgia’s reputation as a tight end powerhouse but also give them strong momentum heading into the 2026 recruiting cycle.

While it remains to be seen where Williams will ultimately commit, Georgia appears to be in an excellent position at this point in the process.
