The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, has arrested 39 suspected terrorists believed to be fleeing Sokoto State following the Christmas Day airstrikes reportedly carried out by the United States military in Nigeria’s North-West region. The arrests were made during coordinated security operations across parts of Ondo State.

According to security sources, the suspects were intercepted while attempting to move quietly through communities and border routes within the state. Intelligence reports had earlier warned of possible movement of fleeing terror elements from the North-West to southern states after the airstrikes disrupted their hideouts.

Amotekun operatives, working alongside other security agencies, intensified patrols and checkpoints after receiving actionable intelligence. The swift response, officials said, led to the arrest of the suspects before they could regroup or pose a threat to residents of the state.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the arrested individuals may be linked to terrorist activities operating in Sokoto and surrounding areas. Meanwhile, the suspects are currently in custody and are expected to be handed over to relevant federal security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
