BREAKING: National Drug Law Enforcement Agency Arrests Woman With Fake Pregnancy Concealing Drugs at Seme Border

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a woman who allegedly attempted to smuggle illicit drugs across the Nigeria–Benin Republic border by disguising herself with a fake pregnancy.

The suspect was arrested at the busy Seme Border while reportedly trying to cross into Cotonou. According to preliminary reports, the woman concealed suspected hard drugs inside a fabricated pregnancy bump in a bid to evade security checks.

NDLEA officials disclosed that vigilant officers became suspicious during routine screening and conducted a thorough search, which led to the discovery of the concealed substances. The fake pregnancy was reportedly crafted to appear realistic in order to avoid detection at the international border.

Authorities have yet to release the exact quantity and type of drugs recovered, but investigations are ongoing to determine whether the suspect is linked to a wider trafficking syndicate operating across the West African corridor.

The Seme Border has long been identified as a strategic transit point for cross-border trade and, at times, illegal activities, making it a focal area for intensified anti-narcotics surveillance by the agency.

The NDLEA has reiterated its commitment to cracking down on drug trafficking networks and warned traffickers that evolving concealment tactics will not outsmart modern detection strategies.
